Triazine Network likes EPA interim atrazine decision

The EPA has published its interim decision on atrazine for weed control and a coalition of ag groups says it’s good news for farmers.

Brownfield spoke with Missouri Corn Growers CEO Gary Marshall – chairman of the Triazine Network last month – after EPA reviewed its own science on atrazine in the re-registration process.

“We think it costs somewhere around $30 per acre to switch to another product that doesn’t do as good of a job as atrazine does in controlling weeds.”

The decision, which sets a “reasonable aquatic ecosystem Level of Concern for atrazine” is open to 60 days of public comment.

The Triazine Network is urging farmers to submit their comments in favor of atrazine as a week control tool.
