Timely rains benefit some Tennessee crops, while other areas need rainfall

Timely rainfalls across parts of Tennessee continue to help crop development, while other parts of the state are in need of some precipitation, and crop conditions are reflecting that. 

Corn is 80% silking with 33% in the dough stage and 84% rated good to excellent.  Cotton is still running behind the average pace with 71% is squaring and 19% is setting bolls, 67% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Soybeans are 49% blooming, 80% is rated good to excellent.  Tobacco is rated 56% good to excellent with 98% of the crop transplanted and 40% topped. 

Pasture conditions improved and are rated 66% good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 91% and subsoil moisture is 86% adequate to surplus.
