Thompson expects Vilsack to release CFAP payments

House Ag Committee Ranking Member Glenn GT Thompson says he is hopeful Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack will release more Coronavirus Food Assistance Program payments.

“I believe that the newly reappointed secretary will move ahead with the release of CFAP 3,” he says.

The Biden administration froze payments so it could review the program. Thompson says ensuring CFAP payments continue is a priority.

“We must first unfreeze the CFAP payments to ensure farmers, ranchers, producers, and some processors who have been hit hard by COVID are provided relief,” he says. “I’m hopeful all of my colleagues can agree on that front.”

The top Republican on the House Ag Committee spoke with ag directors, secretaries, and commissioners during the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Winter Policy Conference.
