Third round of CFAP will likely be distributed by new administration

Distribution of the third round of Coronavirus Food Assistance Program funds and other policies outlined in the recent omnibus spending bill will likely take place after the transition to the Biden Administration.

USDA Undersecretary Bill Northey says with the omnibus bill just being signed last week, there are some parts they are implementing now and others that will take more time. He uses the 80% payments for euthanized livestock as an example.

“Those are challenges: What qualifies? What are those payments based on? What information do you need? Those kinds of things. So, some of those things will likely be fully implemented by the next administration.”

Northey says they are hopeful for a smooth transition that will not delay implementation.

“We are looking at a few things that we can get done before we leave and are doing things that will make implementation as quick as possible so those supports can get out to our producers.”

He reminds producers there is a lot of behind the scenes work for these programs including software development and a cost benefit analysis to be approved by the Office of Management and Budget, which took two months for the first round of CFAP.

  • So 3 rounds of government welfare payments and 3 rounds of trump vote buying welfare payments made to farmers while the working citizen was able to get a whopping $1800??? Unbelievable

    • Well Don maybe us farmers should do what you “working citizens “do when you don’t get enough money for your jobs and just go on strike. Most of you would starve to death. Like Jake said “grow your own damn food”. Oh that’s right, you probably think that your food just magically appears on the supermarket shelves from the “Food Fairies”. Come follow me around for a day, I promise you, you wouldn’t last 2 hours. We farmers and livestock producers don’t have the luxury of a guaranteed paycheck . Ask yourself if you would keep doing your same job year after year not knowing if you’re going to make enough money to pay all your expenses and possibly not make anything or loose money. Hell no you wouldn’t!!!!!! But we farmers and livestock producers do it every year. You might ask yourself why would we do this? Because we have a heart of gold, and would never even think about going on strike and starving our fellow Americans. You see Don, unlike you, we put others First!!! So yes when things get extremely tough and the government lends a helping hand, it’s to make sure that unappreciative Assholes like you have enough food to eat every day. So next time you bitch about the so called “welfare checks” that we occasionally might get. Ask yourself if you like the reassurance that you will always be able to go to the store and get the food you need!!!!!

  • Then grow your own food don and see how well that works out for you. If it’s so easy why isn’t everyone doing it. Another dumb *** (administrator edited that last word)
