The farm bill is ready for a final vote

The compromise farm bill is heading to the House and Senate for a final vote.

Ag committee leaders released details of the bill last night. Key provisions include improvements to the Dairy Margin Protection Program, changes to ARC and PLC guidelines, and increased spending on several major conservation programs. It also establishes funding for a Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine bank.

As expected, two of the priorities for House Republicans and the Trump administration—tighter work requirements for SNAP and broader forest management authority for federal lands—were left out of the bill.

The House vote on the farm bill is tentatively set for Thursday, but the Senate vote is less certain. It may not happen until next week.
