Tennessee harvest progress: 58% of corn, 29% of soybeans complete

Dry weather allowed for ample fieldwork across Tennessee last week.

The USDA reports as of October 1st Corn harvest is 58% complete, slightly behind the five-year average with 75% of the crop considered good to excellent.

Soybean harvest is 29% complete ahead of the average 20% with 76% rated good to excellent.

Cotton harvest is underway with 5% completed and 77% of bolls opening. The agency rates the crop 69% good to excellent.

84% of tobacco is cut, 9% of winter wheat is planted and pasture conditions are considered 51% good to excellent to start the month.
