Tennessee crops: cotton 58% and soybeans 73% rated good to excellent

Farmers across the state received a much-needed rain last week. 

Corn is 43% silking with 6% in the dough stage and 79% rated good to excellent.  Cotton is still running a few weeks behind the normal in some areas and 46% is squaring and 3% is setting bolls, 58% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Soybean planting is nearing completion with 96% planted, 90% of the crop has emerged and 18% is blooming, 73% is rated good to excellent.  Winter wheat harvest is nearly complete, 95% of tobacco has been transplanted with 63% rated good to excellent. 

Pastures are rated 61% good to excellent and the first cutting of hay is 95% complete. 

Topsoil moisture is 91% and subsoil moisture is 91% adequate to surplus.
