Tennessee crops: 88% Cotton, 91% soybeans harvested

Weather challenges prevented Tennessee farmers from finish harvest and planting cover crops.  According to the USDA the rain pushed through parts of the state, bringing close to 2 inches in some areas and brought harvest progress to a halt.

Cotton harvest is 88 percent complete.  Soybeans are 91 percent harvested.  Winter wheat plantings are 87 percent complete, 72 percent of the crop has emerged, and 61 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

While hay conditions are holding on, the drier weather earlier in the year has resulted in farmers feeding hay much earlier than normal.
