Tart cherry juice now tariff-free in Taiwan

U.S. tart cherry juice is now exempt from a 15 percent tariff in Taiwan.

The USDA’s Foreign Ag Service along with the Cherry Marketing Institute and Michigan Congressman Bill Huizenga worked to eliminate the tariffs which are expected to provide an additional million dollars in exports.

The Cherry Marketing Institute says this will open the door for the U.S. tart cherry industry to be more competitive in the Taiwan market, the nation’s sixth largest customer of cherries.

Michigan producers about 75 percent of the nation’s tart cherries.
