State agencies discuss water quality

Bruce McPheron, Dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) at The Ohio State University moderated a panel discussion on Tuesday that featured Director Daniels at the Ohio Department of Agriculture, (ODA), Director Zehringer at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Ohio EPA Director Scott Nally talking about nutrient runoff and protecting water quality.

“The three agencies represented here this morning are working hand-in-glove, they each have independent missions and regulatory responsibilities, but when you hear them talk they are really constantly looking for where the gaps are, where are the gaps in information, where are the gaps in education, where are the gaps in how we actually apply these to real world problems,” said Dean McPheron. “I think it is a responsive set of agencies and I do think they have very much in mind what are the implications for the people actually producing our food.”

The panel discussion was hosted by the Environmental Professionals Network.
