Sprinkles improving conditions some

Scattered rains were good for crops across Michigan last week while sugarbeet growers have started replanting a large portion of fields impacted by frost damage.

USDA says farmers have planted 29 percent of corn, 27 percent of soybeans, 71 percent of oats, and 95 percent of sugarbeets—all maintaining an ahead of average pace.

Winter wheat condition gained two percent to 73 good to excellent with 75 percent of the crop jointed.

Freeze damage is expected in most fruit crops across the state as growers continue to assess fruit.  Dry conditions have been beneficial for some vegetable growers with potato and sweet corn planting underway.
