Soybean growers play a role in growing biodiesel industry

Soybean farmers play a role in the growing biodiesel industry.

American Soybean Association CEO Ryan Findlay says biodiesel adds value to every bushel of soybeans.

“Biodiesel is a really big part of the soybean industry and soybean farmers want to be able to benefit everybody— whether that’s human food, animal protein, or biodiesel there is a role for soybeans,” he says.

He says biodiesel continues to be a top policy priority as it helps provide soybean growers with certainty.

“If we look at biodiesel it’s pretty remarkable that we can grow a product here and we can use the product here in the liquid fuel market and I think farmers should feel proud about that,” he says.

Findlay says there have been several “wins” in the agriculture industry lately that have buoyed optimism including the renewal of the biodiesel tax credit.
