Soybean farmers feeling confident

The senior director of information for the Iowa Soybean Association says growers are more optimistic about their crops than they were a few weeks ago.

Aaron Putze tells Brownfield, “As farmers head out this fall, I think they are going to see yields trending a bit better on the soybean side than maybe they thought as recent as two or three weeks ago.”

He says recent widespread rain showers have helped. “That soybean crop really needed a drink,” Putze said. “Come along August, when it’s typically a drier month, we got those timely rains. Just visited with a farmer in west-central Iowa and they had two and a half inches of rain this week. Those soybeans needed every bit of that.”

Putze says this year has been very similar to the 2021 growing season.
