South Dakota small grain planting off to slow start

Spring wheat planting is running behind in South Dakota.

The latest crop progress report from USDA says six percent of the crop is planted, compared to 24 percent on average.

Oat planting, at five percent, is 17 points behind normal.

For winter wheat, 81 percent is rated good to excellent.
