South Dakota getting $3.3 million for rural broadband
The USDA is investing $3.3 million in rural broadband
service across South Dakota. The agency says it’s the first round of investments
through the ReConnect Pilot Program for unserved and underserved areas of the
state.
The entire grant will help SDN Communications deploy fixed wireless broadband
in rural Pennington and Lawrence counties in South Dakota, providing broadband
access to 275 people, 14 businesses and two farms.
There’s another $100 million Congress allocated to the program nationally through
the CARES Act for Round Two of the ReConnect Program.
