South Dakota corn, soybeans ahead

As of Sunday, 73 percent of corn was planted in South Dakota, just ahead of last year and the average.  Almost one-third of soybeans were planted statewide, also ahead.

Spring wheat planting remains behind last year and the five year average. Eighty-three percent had been planted.  Emergence, of nearly 50-percent, is also behind.

The condition of winter wheat is mostly fair to good.  Twelve percent of winter wheat had jointed.
