National Sorghum Producers reacts to new Chinese tariffs

China retaliated late Friday with 25% tariffs on more U.S. ag goods in response to President Trump’s additional tariffs on more than one-thousand Chinese goods.

The U.S. ag products that would be subject to Chinese tariffs, according to national Sorghum Producers include: sorghum, soybeans, wheat cotton, vegetables, beef, and pork, effective July 6th.

Nebraska farmer Don Bloss, chairman of National Sorghum, “American farmers depend on trade with China, and the tariffs will have devastating effects on U.S. agriculture.”

Bloss says they appreciate the administration’s help in lifting sanctions on U.S. sorghum and hope to see similar efforts going forward.

China buys more than half of U.S. sorghum exports.
