Solid week for soybean, wheat export inspections

The USDA says soybean and wheat export inspections for the week ending September 10th were more than what’s needed to meet projections for the current marketing year. The 2020/21 marketing year got underway June 1st for wheat and September 1st for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

Wheat came out at 637,226 tons, down 62,084 from the week ending September 3rd, but up 119,260 from the week ending September 12th, 2019. The top destinations were Indonesia and the Philippines. Just over a quarter into the 2020/21 marketing year, wheat inspections are 8,099,176 tons, compared to 7,530,003 in 2019/20.

Corn was reported at 878,907 tons, 8,982 lower than the previous week, but 455,778 higher than this time last year. The main destinations were Mexico and China. Early in the marketing year, corn inspections are 1,150,827 tons, compared to 895,139 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,283,936 tons, 112,141 less than the week before, but 615,440 higher than a year ago. The primary destinations were China and Egypt. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 1,849,421 tons, compared to 1,241,963 last year.

Sorghum totaled 72,465 tons, an increase of 72,321 on the week and 26,608 on the year. The biggest destination was China, followed by Japan. 2020/21 sorghum inspections are 72,561 tons, compared to 79,399 in 2019/20.
