Soil test pastures

An extension educator says good pasture management involves soil tests.

Emily Krekelberg with the University of Minnesota tells Brownfield testing provides a good picture of what your soil does and does not have.

“What are the nutrients you’re really deficient in? So that way when you’re sourcing fertilizers or other products to treat your fields and soils, you’re making the right choice and not spending money on things you don’t really need.”

Now that soils are thawing, she says a soil test can be done effectively and inexpensively.
