Snow gives way to warmer weather in Wisconsin

Wisconsin says the widespread mid-month snowfall has already almost vanished.

The USDA says parts of Wisconsin saw more than a foot of snow in January, with heavier amounts in central and southern counties, boosting soil moisture levels ahead of spring planting.

Most of that has already melted due to warmer temperatures, leading to concerns about winterkill if there’s another cold snap this winter.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
