Shaw sees growth potential for US ethanol exports in ‘23

The head of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says he’s cautiously optimistic about the nation’s ethanol exports in 2023.

Monte Shaw tells Brownfield, “We have systematically pushed exports as a great way to export corn, just in another format,” Shaw said. “And so instead of having that one big fish, like China, we have really developed a number of new markets.”

He suggests there is a lot of potential to expand export markets.

“I think I’m optimistic that 2023 could be the year we break through and crack open a little bit more growth than we’ve had in the last four or five years,” Shaw said.

Shaw says US ethanol can help other countries lower emissions and reduce costs at the pump.
