SD crops improve slightly, pastures worsen

Row crop conditions improved slightly this past week in South Dakota.

Seventy-seven percent of corn was rated fair to good. Corn silking is behind last year and the average 27%.

Soybean condition is 76% fair to good. Pod setting is also behind last year and the average at eight-percent.

Winter wheat harvest made a big jump at 33% complete. Condition is mostly poor to fair.

Seventy-percent of the spring wheat in the state is in poor to very poor shape.

Oat harvest is ahead of last year t 23% complete and sorghum condition is mostly fair to good with 24% head, behind last year but ahead of the average.

Pasture and range conditions are worse than the week before at 78% very poor to poor.
