Rural transportation needs among infrastructure project funding

The Biden administration has announced nearly $3 billion is available for infrastructure projects of national and regional significance which includes improvements in rural areas.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says it will provide “for transportation infrastructure projects like transit, rail, highways, freight, and a lot of bridges.”

The Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program is one of three areas included in this round of funding.  Up to $300 million this year is intended to increase access to agricultural facilities among other efforts in rural communities.
