Roundtable with McKinney, Walorski, and Hoosier ag leaders will cover trade

USDA Undersecretary Ted McKinney will join Representative Jackie Walorski and Indiana ag leaders for a roundtable discussion in South Bend Thursday morning.

Indiana Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch says the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement will be part of the roundtable with local farmers.

“To build support and to encourage people to really put pressure on Congress to get that trade agreement ratified because it’s critical to our farmers in these challenging times,” she says.

Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Bruce Kettler, who will also be at the roundtable, says Indiana has continued to strengthen its ties with Canada and Mexico on recent trade missions.

“We have an understanding of why it’s important for Indiana to be able to have USMCA passage and get that agreement going,” he says.

He says Japan will also be a topic of discussion.

Brownfield spoke with Crouch and Kettler at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois.
