Progressive Agriculture’s Safety Days

The demand for safety day programs continues to grow and for the Progressive Agriculture Foundation the growth is outpacing available funding.

“We actually have applications for 104 new communities next year which could reach over 30,000 additional rural youth in 2011,” said Randy Bernhardt, Chief Administrative Officer for the Progressive Agriculture Foundation. “The projections, if we have the funding could easily move from more than 90,000 to more than 120,000 rural youths and adults next year.”

Bernhardt says because of programs like Progressive Agriculture Safety Days, in the last 12 years, serious injuries to rural youth under the age of 21 has declined by nearly 60 percent.
