Parson praises new peanut plant in SE MO

Missouri Governor Mike Parson praises the Delta Peanut processing facility that’s coming to the Bootheel for its economic benefits. Ground was broken last week at the site in Kennett, Missouri.

“When you get down there in that Bootheel area, a job like that, $37,000 (annually) is a really good job down there in that area. But one of the things we really want to focus on is start how do we build in southeast Missouri.”

Fifty new jobs will be created at the Delta Peanut plant along with a dozen jobs for fulltime state and federal inspectors. The mayor of Kennett says new trucking jobs will also be created because of the heightened demand to bring peanuts from the field. Kennett is also getting a new hospital.

Nine of Missouri’s 10 poorest counties are in southeast Missouri.
