Oversight report says EPA mismanaged state pesticide program

The EPA’s oversight branch says the agency is at risk of not achieving special local needs program goals for pesticides.

In its report, the Office of Inspector General says the program will not effectively promote risk reduction and pollution prevention without improvements such as the EPA’s insufficient management-control system of section 24.

Last fall, when EPA rolled out its new dicamba label, the agency said it would no longer allow states to use a portion of that section to modify labels which caused concern among state regulators, especially in the south.
