One-third of Iowa’s corn crop was planted last week

Iowa farmers planted over one-third of the state’s expected corn crop last week.

Total corn planting was 39 percent complete as of Sunday, nearly double the five-year average of 20 percent.

Soybean planting is also off to a fast start. Nine percent of the expected crop planted compared to two percent average.

The oat crop is 80 percent planted with 22 percent emerged.

Pasture condition rated 64 percent good to excellent and 28 percent fair.
