One more day left in #MIEasterEgg competition

Michigan’s egg industry has been sharing how eggs get from the chicken to the grocery store as part of this Easter season.

Michigan Allied Poultry Industry executive director Allison Brink tells Brownfield seven egg farms care for more than 15 million laying hens in Michigan, making it sixth in the nation for egg production.

“Once a hen lays an egg, the process which ensues to get those eggs to your refrigerator is actually quite fascinating,” she says.  “Eggs are never touched by the human hand until you take them out of your carton in your home.”

She says in partnership with Michigan Grown Michigan Great, they’ve created a video of the process as well as the #MIEasterEgg campaign as an egg decorating competition that runs through April 9.  Participants will have a chance to win a $500 gift card to Meijer.  Learn more here.
