Noem: CFAP is good news for agriculture

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says the Trump Administration’s coronavirus relief program benefits farmers and those who are food insecure because of the covid outbreak. The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program includes $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat for Americans in need. Noem calls it good news for agriculture.

“I know agriculture has been hit hard by what’s been going on in this country in particular to the supply chain,” said Governor Noem, “and so I think they’re hoping to utilize some of that oversupply that hasn’t been able to get to folks in need and get it out quickly.”

As part of the administration’s CFAP initiative, USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program is partnering with regional and local distributors to purchase food that will go into food boxes for those who need it.
