New seed selection and placement tool

Climate Corporation announced advancement of a new predictive seed selection and placement technology to pre-commercial testing at a media event held in conjunction with the 2018 Farm Progress Show.  Seed Advisor provides a ranked hybrid recommendation by field and optimal seeding rate recommendations.

As a subsidiary of Bayer Crop Science, The Climate Corporation has access to the industry’s largest proprietary seed genetics library.  Seed Advisor combines this pool of genetic data with regional seed performance data and the unique agronomic conditions of each field to provide recommendations.

“It’s a totally different way to utilize all of the data that we have on the hybrids that we’re making placement or seed selection recommendations for,” explains Tonya Ehlmann, Placement Science Lead for Climate Corporation.

“It takes their game to the next level because the recommendation we are providing is backed by millions of data points.  It gives confidence to the recommendation based on their own conditions on farm.”

Ehlmann tells Brownfield Seed Advisor is a more quantitative way to get at the products that are best suited to yield optimal performance.

This fall Seed Advisor will be tested by 50 seed dealers in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois.  The dealers will use this tool to help their farmer customers manage risk and maximize yield.
