New poll shows majority of Americans support year-round E15

The Renewable Fuels Association points to results of a new nationwide poll as further evidence most Americans support year-round E15.

RFA CEO Geoff Cooper says a polling firm recently surveyed nearly 2,000 registered voters, asking a series of questions about ethanol.

“And one of the questions we asked was ‘do you think the government should take steps to increase the availability of E15 to help lower fuel prices and support energy security?’ And 70 percent of those respondents said ‘absolutely.”

He calls that a strong number and tells Brownfield the timing is important.

“Because as we know, we’re getting closer and closer to summer, and unless the administration takes some action or unless Congress takes some action before June 1st, consumers are going to lose access to E15 at the pump.”

Cooper suggests it’s playing out very similar to last year when President Biden issued an emergency waiver in mid-April.

He says American families saved three to five dollars every time they filled up with E15 last summer.
