Nebraska’s corn harvest is getting underway

Corn harvest is getting underway in Nebraska.

The weekly crop progress report shows three percent of the crop has been harvested, compared to six percent normal. Just 37 percent of the corn is mature, compared to the 56 average.

Corn was rated 71 percent good to excellent.

Fifty-five percent of soybeans were dropping leaves, behind the 69 average. Soybeans are rated 79 percent good to excellent.

Sorghum maturity stands at 22 percent, well behind the 43 average.

Winter wheat planting was 51 percent, slightly behind normal.
