Nebraska wheat rating up sharply on year

What a difference some precipitation can make.

The USDA says 69% of Nebraska’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent shape after improved precipitation during January, well above the 48% reported a month ago and the just 22% called good ago.

Soil moisture levels improved, but drought remains a persistent issue in parts of the state.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
