Nebraska somewhat dry ahead of planting season

Nebraska’s ground conditions are dry heading into the planting season.

The USDA says topsoil moisture 74 percent adequate, and 66 percent of subsoil moisture is adequate.

Winter wheat is rated 40 percent good to excellent.

Oats planted are ahead at 18 percent compared to 12 percent last year. Two percent of the crop is emerged.
