Nebraska grand champion market beef selected

A 1,320 pound crossbred steer named “Suh”, shown by 13-year old Jesse Hoblyn of York, was named the grand champion market beef animal at the 2010 Nebraska State Fair.

The steer was named after Hoblyn’s favorite ex-Cornhusker football player, Ndamukong Suh.  “When he (the calf) was born, he had really big feet on him—that’s what it came to,” says Hoblyn.

Hoblyn actually had two calves in Monday’s Parade of Champions, the other being his reserve champion market heifer.  “I knew I had a really good set of calves,” had said.  “I was hoping I’d do better than last year and I guess I topped that.”

The overall reserve grand champion market beef animal was the Division III crossbred champion shown by 15-year old Beau Bremer of St. Edward.
