Nebraska expands soybean markets in Vietnam

Nebraska’s ag director says the state is expanding market access in Vietnam for soybeans and its byproducts.

Sherry Vinton tells Brownfield soybean meal and soybean oil exports are increasing. “They don’t have the landmass to grow the feed they need for their industry. They have a huge poultry industry and they have a huge aquaculture industry.  They import 80 percent of their needs.”

On a recent trade mission, she says she told businesses and government officials that Nebraska products are sustainable and have a low-carbon footprint. “And, we’re a reliable source, consistent source and a high-quality partner to deal with.  That’s our edge.”

Speaking with Brownfield during the 2023 Nebraska Pork Expo, she says increasing pork and beef exports continue to be a priority.
