Nebraska crops behind, but doing well

Most Nebraska crops are in good condition after last week.  USDA reporters say topsoil and subsoil has more than 82% adequate moisture, and more than 11% has excess moisture.

Sixty-six percent of Nebraska’s corn is in good condition, while 21% is fair and 10% is excellent.

Ninety-eight percent of winter wheat has headed and the crop is 45% good and 28% excellent.

Eighty percent of the sorghum is good and 4% excellent with about 97% of the crop planted.

Oats and dry edible beans are also doing well.

Farmers had nearly five-and-a-half days suitable for fieldwork in Nebraska last week.
