The average price of Nebraska farmland has declined three percent over the last year, according to preliminary findings from the UNL farm real estate market survey.

It’s the fourth straight year of decline and ag land values are now down 17 percent from their peak in 2014.

Values for dryland and irrigated cropland across Nebraska generally declined anywhere from one to seven percent, while grazing land values declined by six percent.

Survey participants pointed to low commodity prices and high property taxes as the main reasons for declining farm real estate values.
