NCGA disappointed in MFP payment for corn

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is disappointed that corn wasn’t treated better in the second round of Market Facilitation Program payments.
The MFP corn payment was left at one cent per bushel, despite efforts by NCGA to convince USDA to recalculate the tariffs’ impact on corn prices.
NCGA president and Nebraska farmer Lynn Chrisp admits that other commodities were hurt more than corn, “but it just boggles the mind that they would come up with a penny for corn. It’s just extremely disappointing.”
An NCGA-commissioned analysis showed corn farmers suffered a 44 cent per bushel loss in the price of corn due to the tariff situation.
“Even if you don’t believe that it was 44 cents, it was something in between—and a penny wasn’t it,” Chrisp says.
Chrisp spoke with Brownfield Wednesday at the Nebraska Corn Growers Association annual meeting in Lincoln.
