National FFA Week streams during winter storm

A widespread winter storm did not stop National FFA Week in Michigan.

Region I State Vice President Austin Smego from Cassopolis tells Brownfield outreach and school visits planned with a national state officer became virtual.

“She had to do a virtual visit which was pretty cool, it was broadcasted to the entire state of Michigan which she wouldn’t have been able to reach,” he says.

Smego says technology adopted from the pandemic has helped their organization better serve agriscience students.

“I feel like post-pandemic Michigan FFA almost has improved from what it was pre-pandemic—we have all of these technologies readily available at our fingertips,” he shares.

Smego is a fourth-generation FFA member and aspires to have a career in agriculture law.
