MSU releases organic soy trial results

Michigan State University has released the results of its 2018 organic soybean trials.

Bob Battel with Michigan State University Extension tells Brownfield the trials built on seven years of research studying non-GMO varieties under organic management.

“One thing that organic growers look for in soybean production that may be traditional growers don’t look for as much is protein and oil percentage because they market their soybeans for the tofu market.”

He says a dry year made the growing season difficult.  More information on the results of commercial and experimental lines can be found here.
