More of the same in 2023?

East Central Iowa farmer Dave Walton says input price concerns are carrying over into 2023.

“Input prices are still a concern. Availability on the herbicide or pesticide side looks pretty good right now.” he says. “Prices are up. Inflation affects us all and we get squeezed in that.”

As for commodity prices, he says, “it’s a renewal of last year where we were kind of worried about prices. We’ve seen good prices and looking at the 2023 new crop prices, we’re still pretty solid.”

Walton raises soybeans, corn, alfalfa, mixed hay and pastures in Wilton, Iowa. Brownfield interviewed him during the recent Clean Fuels Conference in Tampa, Florida.
