MO Attorney General sends letter to Tyson CEO

Missouri’s Attorney General wants the CEO of Tyson Foods to sell two Tyson Foods plants in southern Missouri that are scheduled to close in early 2024.

Andrew Bailey sent a letter telling Tyson’s Donnie King to keep the facilities open or sell to an interested party, including a competitor, because if the plants close it would be devastating to the local economies, workers, chicken farmers and grain growers.

Bailey said refusing to sell to a certain person or persons is also a direct violation of Missouri’s antitrust law and he would like to speak with King on the matter.

Bailey sent the letter on Tuesday. Read the letter.

  • Antitrust legislation goes both ways. If a persoective buyer would have a monopoly by said purchase, then Tyson Foods is well within their rights to not sell at any price.
