Missouri State Fair Kick-off touts agriculture

Nixon 2016 MO State FairThe Missouri State Fair Grand opening ceremony kicked off Thursday with Governor Jay Nixon – who reminded fairgoers about the importance of agriculture at the fair, “It’s a tradition that honors Missouri’s pioneer heritage but ALWAYS looks to the future. And, our high school FFA and 4-H students have an astonishing grasp of what it takes to continue to move agriculture forward.”

Nixon says the strength of Missouri agriculture will continue to move the state forward, “By learning from the strong traditions maintained by our farm families and listening to the young people who are the leaders and innovators of tomorrow, Missouri’s well positioned to maintain our reputation as a global ag leader well into the future.”

The 2016 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia runs through Sunday August 21st.
