Missouri rainfall varied widely last week

Rainfall around Missouri last week varied widely, from heavy precipitation leading to flooding in the south to scattered showers in the north.

Overall, 46% of the state has adequate topsoil moisture, with a high of 58% in the southwestern district, and 60% has adequate subsoil moisture.

95% of corn is silking, 4 days slower than the five year average, and 19% has dented, 9 days behind normal, with the crop starting to mature in southern parts of the state. 57% of corn is rated good to excellent.

74% of soybeans are blooming and 35% are at the pod setting stage, both 4 days slower than average. 54% of soybeans are in good to excellent condition.

The third cutting of alfalfa is 45% complete, 1 day behind normal.

81% of the state has an adequate supply of hay and other roughages and 76% has adequate stock water.

60% of pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape.
