Missouri Gov. Parson supports Trump’s trade discussions with China

Missouri’s Governor says he’s grateful for President Trump’s trade discussions with China. Mike Parson told the conference audience Thursday he’s encouraged that the president is fighting for not only free, but fair trade. Following his speech, Governor Parson said trade negotiations are concerning, “but the reality is we can’t do things the way we’ve always been doing them.”

“Some of the trade agreements, we all know, weren’t fair to our country, weren’t fair to our citizens, in my opinion,” Governor Parson told Brownfield Ag News following his speech. “I agree with the president on that; I think we need to make changes in it, and sometimes those are difficult.”

The conference itself, the governor’s first since taking office, is, according to Parson, about farmers telling their stories, “making sure people understand what it is we do and why it’s important to the country and why it’s important to this state.”
