Missouri FFA packs meals at state fair

FFA members packaged nonperishable meals during the FFA Food Insecurity Day of Service, and those meals will be distributed to Feeding Missouri’s 6 regional food banks.

Feeding Missouri Executive Director Heather Hargrove says the number of people in need of food in the state has increased since 2020.

“We are coming off of COVID and then we really went straight into some inflation issues, especially surrounding food. And, so, you have more and more families having to make choices when they are facing medical issues, perhaps job loss, things they are unable to predict.”

Kristen Waters, a member of the Norborne FFA Chapter in north central Missouri, says working together people can do great things.

“I think it really just helps us get out there and serve our community and help other people that aren’t as fortunate as us and be able to serve them rather than just ourselves. “
