Missouri farmers start planting corn

Missouri farmers took advantage of the decent weather to plant corn the first full week of April.

The latest U.S. Crop Progress and Conditions report from USDA says corn planting is 7% complete, ahead of average for this time of the year. Rice planting is at 1% complete, slightly behind the average pace.

Winter wheat conditions are rated 73% good to excellent in Missouri, a slight decline from the previous week. Topsoil and subsoil moisture across the state remains adequate.
