Missouri farmer says harvest is going well

Harvest is off and running for a northwest Missouri farmer.

“We’re about 8% started on corn, so we are just really kind of getting poked into it,” said Jordan Bottiger of St. Joseph.

Bottiger says his corn crop looks good despite a dry stretch in August. “From what we have seen and what I’ve been talking with some friends, I’d say we’re going to be at least at average to probably 10%-15% above average.”

He tells Brownfield he hopes to start harvesting soybeans by October 1st. “From the pod counts I’ve done on them, I’m pretty excited about (the beans) too.”

Bottiger says Mother Nature has been cooperating with harvest thus far.
